CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Qualifications and Skills

  • Have completed a degree in business and or Strategic management with a recognized university. (MSc/MBA would be an asset)
  • Have a working knowledge and understanding of financial statements and financial matters.
  • 5+ years’ experience in executive leadership positions.
  • Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues.
  • A solid grasp of data analytics and performance metrics.
  • Be able to diagnose problems quickly, have foresight into potential issues & craft solutions.
  • Experience must demonstrate their ability and capacity to guide and motivate a multidiscipline team.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Must have a passion for business.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Company and the work of the Management team. (Accounting, Audit, Tax, Corporate Secretarial and Real Estate)
  • Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention of talent.
  • Work with HR consultants to implement appropriate guidelines for the efficient management of staff and to determine certainty of processes which impact the staff.  
  • Development and implementation of the Company’s strategic business plan in collaboration with the CEO & Management team.
  • Work with the Management team in developing short-term and long-term plans for the business divisions with timelines and deliverables.
  • Participate in the development and expansion of our Barbados and Eastern Caribbean practice in association with our local team and international office based on our stated ambition.
  • Manage the pension plan and its deliverables.
  • Present financial statements and financial reports to relevant team members as agreed.
  • Act as the point of contact for the international office and assist in achieving our strategic objectives.  
  • Explore best practices in our international offices and implement relevant procedure/processes which would enhance the efficiency operation of the Barbados office.
  • Manage our IT infrastructure.

TAX ASSOCIATE

Qualifications and Skills

  • Have completed a law degree and or accounting qualification recognized by ICAB.
  • Have at least 3 years’ experience in tax matters with the BRA and a clear understanding of the accounting issues which impact such tax matters.
  • Be passionate about tax structuring, planning, compliance and corporate secretarial practice.     
  • A working knowledge of the law of receivership and liquidations would be an asset.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving

Responsibilities

  • Required to build a law and tax library.
  • Responsible for researching tax matters including all amendments to the various Acts.
  • Work closely with our Caribbean and International offices in the development of tax proposals and tax compliance activity.
  • Work closely with our audit team in reviewing tax compliance work and informing the team of any updates.
  • Responsible for managing our TAMIS system and follow up on all tax matters raised.
  • Liaising with the revenue authority to resolve tax cases, objections and tax assessments.
  • Provide support to the Corporate secretarial practice.
